Preview: De Soto vs. Turner
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for De Soto. On Friday they take on Turner at 7:00 PM. De Soto will be strutting in after a win while Turner will be stumbling in from a defeat.
De Soto ran circles around Wyandotte last week, and the extra yardage (374.1 yards vs. 186 yards) paid off. De Soto took the matchup and then some with a 47-8 victory over Wyandotte. The success made it back-to-back wins for De Soto.
Meanwhile, Turner have to be hurting after a devastating 6-37 loss at the hands of Shawnee Heights. Turner were down by 6-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Turner's defeat took them down to 1-1 while De Soto's victory pulled them up to 2-0. In their win, De Soto relied heavily on sophomore Jackson Miller, who rushed for 50 yards and 3 touchdowns; a key strategy for Turner will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
