Basketball Recap: Tri-Valley's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Tri-Valley proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 36) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Tri-Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-2.

Tri-Valley and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Tri-Valley (ranked 163rd) will meet El Paso-Gridley (ranked 352nd) at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Meanwhile, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley will challenge St. Joseph-Ogden at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday up 185 places (82 vs. 267).
