Town East Christian comes up short despite Owen Cadena's strong performance

Recap: Town East Christian Eagles vs. Vanguard Christian Knights

The Town East Christian Eagles lost against the Vanguard Christian Knights last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Town East Christian fell 51-44 to the Knights.

When it comes to explaining why Town East Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Owen Cadena. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Steven Windhorst was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Town East Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Vanguard Christian found their leader in underclassman Joshua Robertson, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Robertson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colton Lyssy, who scored nine points.

Town East Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Vanguard Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Town East Christian will face off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vanguard Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sunnybrook Christian comes in on 11 and the Knights on four.
