Softball Recap: Stratford Gets the Win

Stratford took a 16-run defeat the last time they faced off against Pomperaug, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Panthers 7-6. This was payback for the Red Devils, who suffered a 17-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Morgan Letizia spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Leimgruber, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Dicks, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Stratford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Stratford's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10. As for Pomperaug, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Stratford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 17-3 victory against Abbott RVT on the 21st. Pomperaug does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
