Softball Recap: Melrose-Mindoro's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Melrose-Mindoro dropped their record down to 15-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Augusta Beavers. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Beavers earlier this season, when they won 13-2.

Emma Severson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Melrose-Mindoro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Rozek, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Augusta, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Augusta's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Laney O'Brien gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

Coming up, Melrose-Mindoro will challenge Osseo-Fairchild at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Augusta, they will venture away from home to square off against Independence/Gilmanton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
