Softball Preview: Del Norte Knights vs. Manzano Monarchs
Del Norte is 0-7 against Manzano since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Del Norte Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Manzano Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to 13 runs the game before, Del Norte was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. Their tough 12-1 defeat to Valley might stick with them for a while. Del Norte has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Del Norte saw one different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sierra Linebarger, who went 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI.
Meanwhile, Manzano fell victim to a rough 13-4 loss at the hands of Los Lunas in Saturday's second game. Manzano has not had much luck with Los Lunas recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Brianna Largo put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and 11 unearned) runs off 11 hits. Largo was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Gia Padilla made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Del Norte's record now sits at 4-11. As for Manzano, their record now sits at 5-12.
