Football Recap: Brookwood Broncos vs. Berkmar Patriots
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Gwinnett, Brookwood was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 46-6 victory over the Berkmar Patriots. With the Broncos ahead 32-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Brayden Tyson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 223 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 69 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Franklin, who rushed for 73 yards on only five carries.
Brookwood wouldn't let Berkmar keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Brookwood can thank Chris Scott and Daimon Diggs for forcing both of them. Diggs is also crushing it when it comes to forced fumbles: he's earned at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Brookwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 331 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Brookwood's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Berkmar, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookwood will take on Parkview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are at an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2014, but likely not for long. As for Berkmar, they will be playing at home against North Gwinnett at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Gwinnett will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Berkmar surely won't give up without a fight.
