Baseball Game Preview: Goshen Eagles vs. Elba Tigers

The Goshen Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Elba Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Goshen fell victim to Elba and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Eagles have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

For Elba's part, Brady Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Furthermore, Johnson didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Jay Wilson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he also posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaden Baker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

Goshen came up short against Elba when the teams last played on Friday, falling 4-0. Can Goshen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
