Basketball Recap: Giltner Drops Season-High Score on Gibbon

Giltner scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They received a blow as they fell 74-60 to the Gibbon Buffaloes. The Hornets just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brody Cummings, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 assists. The dominant performance also gave Cummings a new career-high in field goal percentage (47%). Another player making a difference was Braxton Cady, who went 7 for 14 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Keaton Heikkinen was a one-man wrecking crew for Gibbon as he went 8 of 13 to rack up 22 points and five steals. Heikkinen has become a key player for Gibbon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least five steals, but 2-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Weismann, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Giltner's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Gibbon, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Giltner didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-21 defeat against Red Cloud on the 30th. As for Gibbon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-64 loss against Loomis on the 30th.
