Osbourn Park is 8-2 against Patriot since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Yellowjackets will head out to square off against the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Patriot will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Osbourn Park extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets never let North Stafford get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Yellowjackets have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Gamble was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lydia Hirschy, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Gamble wasn't the only one making solid contact: Osbourn Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Patriot made easy work of Stafford on Tuesday and carried off a 14-4 victory. The Pioneers are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the third game they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Isa Ellis was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Allison Day was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Osbourn Park's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Patriot, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Patriot's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Osbourn Park has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Patriot, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Osbourn Park keep running through batters, or will the Pioneers buck the trend?
Osbourn Park beat Patriot 7-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
