Volleyball Game Preview: Everett Alvarez Eagles vs. North Salinas Vikings

The Everett Alvarez Eagles will head out to take on the North Salinas Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Tuesday, Everett Alvarez didn't have quite enough to beat Rancho San Juan and fell 3-2. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Everett Alvarez actually scored more points across those five sets (107-104), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 26-24, 16-25, 15-12.

Meanwhile, North Salinas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Rancho San Juan. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trailblazers 25-17 in the first set.

North Salinas wouldn't go down easily and took Rancho San Juan into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-13, 15-25, 25-21, 15-13.

Everett Alvarez's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for North Salinas, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Everett Alvarez beat North Salinas 2-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
