Baseball Recap: Decatur Central Takes a Loss

Decatur Central fell victim to Avon and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Orioles by a score of 1-0. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Orioles earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Brayden Smith was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

At the plate, Decatur Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Markus, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Decatur Central moved to 16-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Avon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-11.

While Decatur Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
