Basketball Recap: Kentridge Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Kentridge can now relate to. They came up short against the Sumner Spartans on Thursday, falling 52-27. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Spartans are ranked 19th).

Despite the loss, Kentridge saw an underclassman step up: freshman Miley Lam posted 11 points. Lam continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Leading Sumner to victory were Olivia M Collins and Kawehi Borden. M Collins put up 18 points and seven steals, while Borden almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Those seven steals gave M Collins a new career-high. Kessa Nohr was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Kentridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Sumner, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.

Kentridge has already played their next contest, a 52-50 victory against Bonney Lake on the 15th. As for Sumner, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 53-48 defeat against Emerald Ridge on the 15th.
