Baseball Recap: Mountain Pointe Takes a Loss

Mountain Pointe extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-15. They lost 12-0 to the Campo Verde Coyotes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pride of the 4-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Mountain Pointe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devin Montes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

As for Campo Verde, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The result was nothing new for Campo Verde, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Campo Verde's side, Nando Eliceche looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Eliceche a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Ezekiel Zion was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Campo Verde is undefeated when Zion posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Will Bycott was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

While Mountain Pointe had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
