Softball Preview: University City Centurions vs. Tri-City Christian Eagles
The University City Centurions will venture away from home to face off against the Tri-City Christian Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
University City managed to slip by Point Loma the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. University City lost 10-1 to Point Loma on Tuesday.
Sydni Sandoval made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
While Tri-City Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Foothills Christian a 12-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on four straight.
Marissa Chronic made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Chronic was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Erykah Juarez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Abby Lisak was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Tri-City Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothills Christian only managed one hit.
Tri-City Christian's record now sits at 5-1-1. As for University City, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-7-1.
