Softball Game Preview: Midland Chemics vs. Bay City Western Warriors

The Midland Chemics will take on the Bay City Western Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Midland's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four games, but Monday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Midland fell victim to Goodrich and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Martians.

Meanwhile, Bay City Western had just enough and edged out Powers Catholic 5-3 on Thursday. Those five runs were actually the fewest the Warriors have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Zoe Ziehmer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Calee Lijewski was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Gransden, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Bay City Western's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Midland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Midland took their victory against Bay City Western in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-3 score. Will the Chemics repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
