Basketball Game Preview: Hutto Hippos vs. Vandegrift Vipers

The Hutto Hippos will head out to take on the Vandegrift Vipers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hutto will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Stony Point, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. Hutto had just enough and edged Stony Point out 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hippos have posted since November 7, 2024.

Meanwhile, Vandegrift had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 74-39 victory over the Mustangs. The Vipers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Vandegrift pushed their record up to 26-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.2 points. As for Hutto, their victory bumped their record up to 15-17.

Hutto came up short against Vandegrift in their previous meeting back in January, falling 64-54. Can Hutto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
