Softball Game Preview: Claremont Wolfpack vs. Bonita Bearcats

Claremont is 2-8 against Bonita since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Claremont will square off against Bonita at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

While Claremont didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Walnut with a sharp 13-1 win on Thursday. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Bonita made sure to put some runs up on the board against Diamond Bar on Thursday. Bonita never let Diamond Bar get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. With that victory, the Bearcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Koa Puppe was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Skyy Hicks, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Claremont pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bonita, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Claremont suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Bonita in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Claremont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
