Softball Recap: Manteca Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Manteca ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Patterson Tigers 10-8. Winning may never get old, but the Buffaloes sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Manteca got a great performance from Isabel Tonna as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Lauren Moncada was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Jocelyn Baptist was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Manteca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patterson only managed eight hits.

Manteca's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Patterson, they dropped their record down to 8-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manteca will face off against East Union at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Patterson, they will host Mountain House at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
