Football Recap: Lowell's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Lowell dropped to 7-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a hard 19-3 fall against the Andrean Fighting 59ers. Having soared to a lofty 49 points in the game before, the Red Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

Even if they lost, Lowell's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lincoln Schneider, Jeron Cannon, and Michael Shelton, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Andrean's side was Schneider, who picked up a sack and made 17 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

As for Andrean, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.8 points over those games.

A big part of Andrean's win came down to the chemistry between Brady Elish and his top target Tyler Vo. Elish rushed for 18 yards and one score while Vo picked up 156 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Those 156 receiving yards gave Vo a new career-high.

Lowell wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 56-21 victory against Hanover Central on the 24th. As for Andrean, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wheeler at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Fighting 59ers 9.6, the Bearcats 10.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
