Preview: Williamsport Millionaires vs. Central Mountain Wildcats
Williamsport is 9-0 against Central Mountain since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Williamsport Millionaires will be playing in front of their home fans against the Central Mountain Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Williamsport has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Saturday, Williamsport was able to grind out a solid win over Altoona, taking the game 55-43.
Meanwhile, Central Mountain pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Chestnut Ridge by a score of 67-65. While losing is never fun, Central Mountain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Chestnut Ridge is ranked 82nd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Xaiver Persun, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Hoy, who scored 18 points.
Williamsport's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Central Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Everything went Williamsport's way against Central Mountain in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Williamsport made off with a 78-52 win. Does Williamsport have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Mountain turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
