Football Game Preview: Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks vs. Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada

The Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks will take on the Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oceanside Collegiate Academy has three straight wins, Atlantic Collegiate Academy has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Oceanside Collegiate Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Dutch Fork, who was ranked first at the time (Oceanside Collegiate Academy was ranked eighth). The Landsharks snuck past the Silver Foxes with a 24-20 victory on Friday. The 24-point effort marked the Landsharks' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Oceanside Collegiate Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Manavian led the charge by throwing for 285 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. The Landsharks' leading receiver Terence Johnson was Manavian's top target yet again, picking up 111 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Oceanside Collegiate Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rhys Meredith, Mike Jones, and Joey Harriott, who each picked up one sack apiece. Meanwhile, Atlantic Collegiate Academy managed to keep up with Mullins until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Armada lost 38-14 to the Auctioneers. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.

Oceanside Collegiate Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Atlantic Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
