Baseball Recap: Erasmus Hall Comes Up Short

Erasmus Hall extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They lost 15-1 to the Grady Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on April 3rd.

As for Grady, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. Considering they have won four matches by more than 13 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Grady's part, Alexander Vega was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Vega was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Grady is 2-1 when Vega posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Gomez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He has become a key player for Grady: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcello Faciano, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Coming up, Erasmus Hall will square off against Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grady, they will host Brooklyn Prospect at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
