Baseball Recap: Monomoy Comes Up Short

Monomoy extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-8. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Martha's Vineyard Regional Vineyarders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vineyarders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 back in April.

As for Martha's Vineyard Regional, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For Martha's Vineyard Regional's part, Joe Mediros was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Mediros is becoming a predictor of the Vineyarders' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Leo Napier also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monomoy will host Bourne at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Martha's Vineyard Regional, they will be playing at home against Barnstable at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
