Baseball Game Preview: Cumberland Academy Knights vs. Henderson Lions

Cumberland Academy is 0-7 against Henderson since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Knights will take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m.

Cumberland Academy is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game last Friday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Chapel Hill.

Gauge Richardson and Carsyn Walker did some serious damage despite the final result: Richardson went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Walker went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Henderson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Carthage 6-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since March 1st.

Henderson has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Cumberland Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-20.

Cumberland Academy suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Henderson in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
