Recap: Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie vs. Dr. Krop Lightning
The Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Dr. Krop with a sharp 78-53 win on Wednesday. Given Hialeah Educational Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Dr. Krop is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reece Randolph continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Ian Pascal, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Several Lightning players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Washington, who scored 23 points. Washington scored a full 43.4% of Dr. Krop's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Johans Richards, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Dr. Krop were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hialeah Educational Academy only pulled down 18 offensive rebounds.
Hialeah Educational Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Dr. Krop, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Hialeah Educational Academy is on the road again on Thursday and play against Coral Reef at 7:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Hopefully Coral Reef focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday. Dr. Krop will finish 2023 at home by hosting TERRA Environmental at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. TERRA Environmental knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Dr. Krop likes a good challenge.
