Football Recap: Maumee Comes Up Short

Maumee lost against Eastwood back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers came up short against the Eagles, falling 41-17. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Eagles are ranked 152nd).

Eastwood found their leader in sophomore Trace Johnson, who rushed for 100 yards on only 11 carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one score.

This is the second loss in a row for Maumee and nudges their season record down to 5-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Oak Harbor (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 78.9% over those games). As for Eastwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Maumee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eastwood, they will host Oak Harbor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Rockets have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
