Baseball Game Preview: Pioneer Mustangs vs. Leigh Longhorns

Pioneer has won four straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Leigh has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Mustangs will host the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pioneer came out on top against Santa Teresa on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Mustangs took their game against the Saints 7-2. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Leigh won against Willow Glen on Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Longhorns skirted past Santa Cruz 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Longhorns have posted since February 28th.

Lance Takamura was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Kim, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Leigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

Pioneer's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Leigh, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.
