Recap: Columbus Discoverers vs. Hastings Tigers

The Columbus Discoverers had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Hastings by a score of 58-51 on Saturday. That seven points margin sets a new team best for Columbus this season.

Columbus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Preston Hastreiter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hastreiter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Freshour, who scored 12 points along with three steals.

Columbus' victory ended a 12-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12. As for Hastings, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus will take on Gretna East at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Gretna East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. As for Hastings, they will be playing at home against Norris at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Norris' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
