Baseball Recap: Millry Takes a Loss

Millry dropped to 5-7 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 20-3 to the Leroy Bears. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Bears when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Caden Welford made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

As for Leroy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.

On Leroy's side, Keegan Giles made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Giles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Andrew Mauldin was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Sawyer Sullivan, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Millry didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-1 win against McIntosh on the 18th. As for Leroy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-3 defeat against Washington County on the 17th.
