Aptos lost against Santa Cruz back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mariners fell 3-1 to the Cardinals. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Aptos was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Santa Cruz work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19.

Aptos has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Santa Cruz, they pushed their record up to 3-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aptos will face off against Pacific Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Santa Cruz, they will square off against Soquel at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
