Baseball Recap: Lamar Comes Up Short

Lamar was the 5-2 winner over Starkville Academy when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell just short of the Volunteers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

Lamar saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Whitcomb, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lamar has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 22-5 record this season. As for Starkville Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season.

While Lamar had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
