Softball Recap: Odessa Bronchos vs. Midland Bulldogs

Odessa had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-19 to make it six. They lost 10-2 to the Midland Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on April 1st.

As for Midland, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 27-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by six runs or more this season.

For Midland's part, Bree Battenfelder made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Battenfelder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Midland got a massive performance out of Avrey Ochoa, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Ochoa a new career-high. Marley Porter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Odessa nor Midland have any future games scheduled.
