Baseball Recap: North Stokes Vikings vs. Chatham Central Bears
North Stokes extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-18. They fell 7-2 to the Chatham Central Bears. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bears this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-3 defeat back in March.
Elijah Smith put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
As for Chatham Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.
Like North Stokes, Chatham Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Carson Jackson. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Jackson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
