Softball Recap: Kalida Comes Up Short

Kalida was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Liberty Center Tigers, falling 12-3.

Shelby Jerwers was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Jerwers wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Bockrath, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Kalida's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Liberty Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season.

Kalida didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-6 win against Ottoville on the 12th. As for Liberty Center, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-2 victory against Van Buren on the 12th.
