Baseball Recap: Baldwin Park Makes It Six in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Baldwin Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Garey Vikings on Saturday. While the Braves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Julian Huerta made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Isaiah Montes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Baldwin Park's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Garey, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Baldwin Park will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Southlands Christian at 3:30 p.m. Southlands Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Baldwin Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Garey, they will head out to take on Nogales at 3:15 p.m. on April 7.
