Basketball Recap: Archbishop Spalding Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

Archbishop Spalding had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came out on top against the Calvert Hall Cardinals by a score of 61-48. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Cardinals are ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Archbishop Spalding was led to victory by Elijah Barrett and Braxton Bogard. Barrett went 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds, while Bogard went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. That's the most points Barrett has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Azriel Adofo, who posted seven points.

Archbishop Spalding has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Calvert Hall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Loyola Blakefield the next time they take the court. Archbishop Spalding will head out to face Loyola Blakefield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Calvert Hall will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
