Football Game Preview: Monte Vista Christian Mustangs vs. St. Francis Sharks + How To Watch

The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Francis Sharks at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Monte Vista Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.8 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Monte Vista Christian ended up a good deal behind San Lorenzo Valley and lost 30-14. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Boston Ashe, who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He is on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Evan Vessey also helped with two scores in total.

Meanwhile, St. Francis beat North Monterey County 40-27 on Saturday.

St. Francis' win came from a few key players Monte Vista Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Max Madrigal, who threw for 267 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt. Those 267 passing yards gave him a new career-high. St. Francis' leading receiver Robert Gomez was Madrigal's top target yet again, picking up 118 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The win got St. Francis back to even at 4-4. As for Monte Vista Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's game: Monte Vista Christian has been unstoppable in the air this season, having averaged 350 passing yards per game. It's a different story for St. Francis, though, as they've been averaging only 110.5 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?

Monte Vista Christian was dealt a bruising 56-29 defeat at the hands of St. Francis in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
