The Viewmont Vikings will take on the Hillcrest Huskies at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hillcrest took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Viewmont, who comes in off a win.
Viewmont is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Spanish Fork, who was ranked 17th at the time (Viewmont was ranked 20th). The Vikings were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Dons on Saturday.
Viewmont never let Spanish Fork on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-22, 25-21.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to West Jordan. While the Huskies didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Jaguars 25-16 in the first set.
Hillcrest started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-17.
Viewmont will have to contain Eli Santos as he made an impact in Hillcrest's last game. He had 14 digs and one assist.
Hillcrest's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Viewmont, they pushed their record up to 13-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
