Softball Recap: Benet Academy Takes a Loss

Benet Academy had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it five. They lost 12-2 to the Downers Grove North Trojans. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Redwings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Benet Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alaina Rosner, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Hannah Baer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Downers Grove North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Downers Grove North's side, they got a massive performance out of Ella Bonk, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Bonk has posted over her last ten contests. Another player making a difference was Sophia Barofsky, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benet Academy will head out to square off against Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Redwings are facing the Corsairs at the right time seeing as the Corsairs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Downers Grove North, they will venture away from home to face off against Proviso West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
