Volleyball Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wheatland-Grinnell entered their tilt with Dighton on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Hornets. The Thunderhawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets, too.

Wheatland-Grinnell had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-18, 25-21.

Aliviah Ball paced Wheatland-Grinnell's offense, picking up 14 kills. Ball got some help from Evangeline Godek and her 24 assists. Brielle Hanna controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Wheatland-Grinnell's record now sits at 16-12. As for Dighton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.

Dighton has already played their next match (against Wallace County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wheatland-Grinnell will be paying especially close attention to the Hornets' matchup: after the Hornets face off against Golden Plains, they'll take on Wheatland-Grinnell again on Tuesday.
