Recap: Washington Rams vs. Copper Canyon Aztecs
If the Washington Rams were riding high off their 53-32 takedown of the Glendale Cardinals last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Washington fell to Copper Canyon 51-47. If Washington hoped to take revenge for the 49-28 loss against they when the teams met on Thursday, then they were left disappointed.
Washington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Channel Ochoa, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Amaya Yazzie, who scored ten points.
Bri'ann Felix continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Copper Canyon, dropping a double-double on 38 points and 13 rebounds. Felix is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmin Colter, who scored two points along with 19 rebounds and two steals.
Washington has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Copper Canyon, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Washington will head out on the road to take on Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Copper Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Kofa at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Kofa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
