Softball Recap: Streetsboro Rockets vs. Berkshire Badgers

Streetsboro extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 7-8. They came up short against the Berkshire Badgers, falling 10-4. If the Rockets were looking for revenge after losing 9-4 to the Badgers when the teams met back in April of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Amy Rein was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Ella Simpson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

As for Berkshire, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Berkshire's side, Moira Wonders made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Wonders has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Whitney Davis was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Young, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Streetsboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 17-0 loss against Field on the 4th. As for Berkshire, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-3 defeat against Howland on the 2nd.
