Basketball Recap: Markie Aliff Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Black River

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Buckeye, Brookside was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They strolled past the Black River Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 48-29. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 62-23 back in January.

Brookside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markie Aliff, who posted seven points along with 15 boards and six steals. That's the most steals Aliff has posted since back in December of 2024. Octavia Gonzales was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Brookside's win bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Black River, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Brookside has already played their next contest, a 41-36 loss against Cuyahoga Heights on the 8th. As for Black River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 60-53 victory against South Central on the 8th.
