Volleyball Recap: Sturgis Brown Comes Up Short

Sturgis Brown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rapid City Central Cobblers. If the Scoopers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Cobblers when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sturgis Brown took Rapid City Central into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-10, 22-25, 13-25, 15-7.

Sturgis Brown's loss dropped their record down to 7-21. As for Rapid City Central, their victory ended a five-match drought at home and bumped them up to 12-16.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Sturgis Brown will square off against rival Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rapid City Central is set to take on their familiar foe Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
