Baseball Preview: Colusa RedHawks vs. Gridley Bulldogs
The Colusa RedHawks will head out to face off against the Gridley Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Colusa comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Colusa came up short against West Valley on Thursday, falling 14-7.
Ashton Gutierrez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Franco, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gridley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Winters 5-3. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Riley Engelmann was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Richard Villalobos also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Gridley pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Colusa, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
