Basketball Recap: First Baptist Crusaders vs. Lake Region Christian Hornets
The First Baptist Crusaders came tearing into Saturday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Lake Region Christian with points to spare, taking the game 67-53. That's another feather in the cap for First Baptist, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Levi Borner was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Boston Johnson, who scored 17 points.
First Baptist is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Lake Region Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Baptist will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Minnesota (St. Francis Christian is ranked 174th, while the Crusaders are ranked 191st). As for Lake Region Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge the at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Chisago Lakes Baptist comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
