Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lincoln Academy

Lincoln Academy extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 3-9-1 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Gardiner Tigers. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Owen Cotta was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Aidan Sanborn also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Lincoln Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gardiner only posted an OBP of .344.

As for Gardiner, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

On Gardiner's side, Dillon Farnham made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Madore, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Lincoln Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Gardiner: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
