Softball Recap: Shelby County Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Shelby County lost to Portland Christian back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Rockets never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Rockets have won eight matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylee Cox made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Cox was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kendall Carnes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Madison Clark, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Shelby County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portland Christian only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory made it two in a row for Shelby County and bumps their season record up to 11-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Portland Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-13.

Coming up, Shelby County will square off against Christian Academy-Louisville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Portland Christian, they will face off against Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
