Softball Recap: North White Find Success

While North White's win against Triton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings skirted past the Trojans 15-14. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 on Saturday.

Raelynn Anliker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, North White got a big performance out of Hanna Hunt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Adriann Conn also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

North White kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for North White and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Triton, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North White will host Winamac at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Triton, they will welcome LaVille at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
